Puerta de Bisagra is jointly managed and protected by the Toledo City Council and the Regional Government of Castilla-La Mancha. As an important historical and cultural heritage of Toledo and the iconic entrance to the city, this gate is a Spanish "Bien de Interés Cultural" (Property of Cultural Interest) and a fundamental part of the ancient city walls of Toledo.
Puerta de Bisagra (also known as Puerta Nueva de Bisagra) is one of the most majestic and iconic gates of the city of Toledo, Spain. It serves as the main entrance to the old city and is a vivid witness to Toledo's status as the "City of Three Cultures" (the intertwined history of Christianity, Judaism, and Islam). The Toledo City Council warmly welcomes you to explore this monument.
ℹ️ Visitor Information
Puerta de Bisagra is a free-access ancient city gate, open to pedestrians all day. No tickets or reservations are required. We recommend combining your visit with a walking tour of the Toledo city walls, especially to admire its Renaissance architecture, the coat of arms of Charles V on the facade, and the surrounding wall scenery.
